Zett's training was subsequently geared towards combat training and swordsmanship. However, Zett responded well to the training becoming a capable warrior, highly skilled for a Jedi his age. Sadly, his apprenticeship was cut short when Mierme Unill was killed in battle. Following the death of his Master, Zett remained at the Jedi Temple to await reassignment. While at the Temple, Zett studied under Jedi Master Cin Drallig.

At the end of the Clone Wars, Zett was at the Jedi Temple when Darth Vader infiltrated the sacred grounds with the 501st Legion. Zett joined his fellow Jedi in defending the Temple, but Darth Vader's assault proved too much and Zett soon found himself fighting alone. Hoping to escape the Temple via the Jedi Temple's hanger platform, he hid from the clonetroopers until an opportunity presented itself to get to safety. When Senator Bail Organa arrived to investigate the attack against the Temple, Zett made his move. Cutting down several clonetroopers in an attempt to reach Organa and his ship, the young Jedi put up a valiant effort before he was shot and killed. However, his death was not in vain as it signaled to Bail Organa that the Jedi were endangered and allowed him to warn Jedi Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi to stay away from Coruscant.
